The Board of Trustees is the highest governance and oversight body of the Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board. It provides strategic leadership, policy direction, and institutional oversight to ensure the effective delivery of primary health care services across Rivers State. The Board is chaired by a Chairman and comprises members appointed by the Executive Governor of Rivers State, subject to confirmation by the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Composition of the Board

Membership of the Board reflects broad stakeholder representation and includes nominees drawn from:

  • The public sector
  • The Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON)
  • Recognised health professional bodies
  • Labour organisations
  • Relevant ministries, departments, parastatals, and agencies

This inclusive composition ensures balanced decision-making and alignment with state and national health priorities

Roles and Responsibilities

The Board of Trustees is responsible for:

  • Providing policy guidance and strategic oversight
  • Ensuring accountability and transparency in governance
  • Supporting the implementation of government health policies
  • Safeguarding the institutional mandate and sustainability of the Board

Through effective leadership and governance, the Board plays a critical role in strengthening primary health care delivery and improving health outcomes for the people of Rivers State
