Joy and gratitude filled the air at the Rukpokwu Model Primary Health Centre as the facility was officially presented alongside a free medical outreach, bringing hope and quality healthcare closer to residents of the community.
From the early hours of the day, women, children and elderly beneficiaries thronged the health centre, their faces glowing with smiles as they received free medical consultations, health screenings, drugs and professional care. For many of the women, the outreach was a welcome relief, easing the burden of medical expenses and reaffirming that their wellbeing truly matters
The atmosphere was one of celebration for the improved facility and the life-saving services rendered. Laughter, prayers and words of gratitude echoed across the centre, painting a clear picture of the impact of accessible primary healthcare at the grassroots.
The event was further strengthened by the physical presence of the Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Hon. Gift Worlu who attended alongside his Vice Chairman. Also present were the Hon. Commissioner for Health represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Justina Jumbo, the Board Chairman, Dr. Dawari George and members of the Board, the Executive Secretary, Dr. Chituru Adele and directors of the Board. Their presence underscored the commitment of the local government to supporting primary healthcare delivery and ensuring that residents benefit directly from people-centred health interventions.
Development partners and other key stakeholders also participated in the presentation and outreach, lending their support to the collective effort aimed at improving health outcomes and strengthening the primary healthcare system in the area.
