RSPHCMB Strengthens Planning Preparedness Ahead of 2027 AOP

The Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board (RSPHCMB) is advancing preparations for its 2027 Annual Operational Plan (AOP). This followed a two-day operational planning workshop held at the Board’s headquarters on 14 and 16 September 2026. Participants reviewed implementation and examined gaps and lessons learned from the 2026 AOP.

Directors, Medical Officers of Health from the 23 Local Government Areas, Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) Focal Persons, National Health Fellows and Programme Leads attended the workshop.

In his remarks, the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Dr Dede Seiyofori, stressed the need to examine what worked. He also highlighted what remained outstanding and what needed to change.

“We needed to review our achievements, the level of implementation and then prioritise and restrategise,” Dr Seiyofori said.

Guided by primary healthcare planning priorities, the exercise considered a range of areas, including leadership and governance, equitable and quality care, maternal and child health, health security and digital health, among others.

Participants also discussed performance monitoring, health-worker training, community awareness and the integration of new approaches into primary healthcare.

The findings and lessons from the 2026 review will inform the 2027 AOP. The aim is to support a more focused and evidence-based operational plan for primary healthcare in Rivers State.
