ROTARY SUPPORTS PRIMARY HEALTHCARE WITH DONATION OF MICROSCOPES TO 55 PHCs IN RIVERS STATE.

Accurate diagnosis is critical in the fight against malaria. In support of improved disease detection and effective treatment, Rotary International has donated microscopes to 55 Primary Healthcare (PHC) facilities, specifically to strengthen malaria diagnosis across communities.

The initiative went beyond equipment donation, incorporating hands-on training sessions for healthcare workers to ensure proper microscope use, improved laboratory practices, and reliable malaria testing at the primary care level.

The microscopes were formally received by the Director of Medical Services, on behalf of the Executive Secretary. During the handover, the Director expressed sincere appreciation to Rotary for the timely intervention and emphasized that the Board will ensure the microscopes are used strictly for their intended purpose, maximizing impact and sustainability.

This intervention directly strengthens PHC laboratory services by improving malaria testing capacity, building staff competency, and ensuring diagnostic tools are used effectively where they are most needed.
