The Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board, through the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF), conducted a one-day orientation programme on 2nd July 2026 for newly recruited nurses under the Expanded Midwives Services Scheme (eMSS).
A total of 40 nurses were successfully onboarded and deployed across the Local Government Areas (LGAs) to strengthen the delivery of quality maternal and newborn healthcare services. This initiative aligns with the National and State commitment to reducing maternal mortality by addressing preventable causes and improving access to skilled birth attendance.
